Giving USA 2022

Top trends to inform your fundraising strategy featuring special guest and Giving USA’s lead researcher Una Osili

Thursday, June 30
9-9:45 a.m. ET

Americans donated $484.85 billion in 2021. What does this mean for your nonprofit?

Learn the meaning behind the messages contained within the most comprehensive and accurate benchmark for charitable giving in the United States.

During this 45-minute webcast, we’ll be joined by the lead researcher for Giving USA, Dr. Una Osili. A Professor of Economics and Philanthropic Studies and Associate Dean for Research and International Programs at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Dr. Osili will share insights and analysis on this year’s report.

Here’s a preview of what you’ll learn:

  • Total charitable giving grew 4% in 2021. But it failed to keep pace with inflation, remaining relatively flat when adjusted for inflation.
  • By early 2021, both the stock market and GDP had recovered to pre-pandemic levels and continued to grow throughout the year. These factors helped to create strong conditions for charitable giving.
  • Many donors returned to their favored causes in 2021. Several of the subsectors that experienced strong growth in 2020 saw declines in 2021, while several subsectors that struggled in 2020 experienced a recovery.
