Graham-Pelton is delighted to announce the appointment of one of the UK’s most well-known and experienced fundraisers, Colin McCallum.

Colin McCallum joins Graham-Pelton Consulting as an Associate. Based in Scotland, he will be instrumental in continuing Graham-Pelton’s growth in the country, alongside the addition of a Scottish office. For over thirty years, Colin has led strategy and delivery of programmes of change at senior levels across a range of organisations and institutions throughout the UK, Europe, the USA, and Australia. Colin is an award-winning ‘advancement’ professional, mentor, trainer, and consultant.

Colin says, “I am delighted to join such an impressive team at Graham-Pelton as their impact grows through the provision of outstanding service to a wide range of clients. With my new colleagues and our amazing clients, I am looking forward to working hard to ensure that fundraising and the other ‘advancement’ activities continue to contribute even more to ensuring a bright future for universities, schools, cultural institutions, and voluntary sector charities. The work of our clients makes the world a better place, and together we can make sure that this continues to be the case.

“I have lived and worked in the UK, Continental Europe, Australia, South Africa, and the USA. However, as a proud Scot, I am pleased to be part of the new Graham-Pelton presence in Scotland, and I really am looking forward to meeting our current and future clients and to help them build.”

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Colin’s professional career has seen him hold senior positions in higher education as well as the cultural and private sectors. In addition to roles at the universities of Edinburgh and Oxford, the professional posts he has held include:

  • University of Strathclyde: Director of Development and External Affairs
  • National Museums Scotland: Director, Marketing and Development
  • Glasgow Caledonian University: Assistant Vice-Principal, Vice-President, GCU Foundation
  • University of Salford: Executive Director, University Advancement

Colin is the holder of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s Crystal Apple for ‘stellar speakers.’ The campaign he established and managed at University of Strathclyde won ‘gold’ in the UK fundraising awards. He is a Trustee of CASE Europe, a Board member of Scottish Opera, and a trustee of Kidscan, childhood cancer research charity. He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars across the UK and Europe and has delivered mentoring programmes in Australia and South Africa.

Susie Hills, Managing Director at Graham-Pelton, says, “Colin’s arrival signifies a major milestone for Graham-Pelton as we continue to grow our presence in Scotland following the appointment of Karen Cairney. We are in the process of securing a business address in Scotland, and Colin will be instrumental in our growth in the region. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
